Owners, operators or vessel masters requiring underkeel clearances (UKCs) or other operating parameters more stringent than those provided in the Operations Guidelines
should inform the Operations Pilot at the earliest opportunity. The San Francisco Bar Pilots will utilize any requested minimum UKC that is greater than the minimums stated in the Guidelines. The Operations Guidelines, including those referring UKCs, are
for planning purposes only, and are not a warranty of safe passage. Conditions beyond the control of the Operations Pilot may result in limitations more stringent than those assumed in the Operations Guidelines, or may allow the pilot who is assigned to move
a vessel to deviate from the Guideline minimums. Vessel owners, operators and masters are reminded that the Guideline for final approaches to or at berths is any UKC that allows a vessel to remain constantly afloat.
